About Lynda K 'Merlynda' Robinson - aka - 'Miss Merlynda' ...

Born into a theatrical and musical family, Lynda K Robinson - (aka 'Miss Merlynda') - has for over 40 years' entertained at Public Events and Festivals - as a Unique - Magical - Enchanting - Mesmerizing - Puppeteer - Walkabout Street Ventriloquist - Punch & Judy Shows Professor - and - Poet. 

Today, she performs her Delightfully Enchanting 'Poetry In Puppetry Scenes' as a Live Street Puppeteer-Poet - performing her Multi- Award-Winning Verse-Fables - and - Beautiful Nature & Romantic Haiku & Tanka Poems - through her Cast of Extraordinarily Delicate Dolls and Marionettes - created in a variety of Traditional and Modern styles.

Background - Training - Qualifications:    

Lynda trained with LAMDA for 10 years (becoming an ALAM and LLAM of LAMDA and awarded 4 Gold and Silver Honours Medals in Speech/Acting) - and successfully completed the rigorous ‘The Mastery’ at The Actors Institute, London.

Her childhood was spent almost entirely performing in Operetta, Musicals and Dramatic Plays - and - creating her own Comedy Poetry and Comedy Monologues, Comical Nonsense Poetry, Story-Telling and Rhyming Fairy-Tales and Fun Verse-Fables For Children, Romantic Nature Poetry For All Ages - and - Hilarious Novelty Comedy Songs - and then performing these as blended together as 'Acts' and 'Shows' together with her hand-made and vintage Ventriloquist Dolls and Moving Mouth Puppets, her hand-made String Marionettes and Rod Puppets - which she created from all manner of everyday objects and materials - materials which were both commercially available at her local rural village post office - and those which she rummaged around for at jumble sales - or at the seaside.  Clay, wood, pebbles, old plastic bottles, wool, canvas, 'sticky-backed plastic' (!) felt pens, ancient lace doilies, buttons, paints, dowels, fishing line  and papier mache - were all mixed well together - and were then made to 'Live' - to have a truly magical life - and - a clear and distinct voice and personality - each and all of their very own!

Ventriloquism, Singing Ventriloquism, Punch and Judy Puppetry, Marionette Puppetry - Walkabout Street Ventriloquism and Street Theatre Puppetry - each importantly informed her live - ad libbed - ad hoc - and - spontaneously fun - audience participation Mix and Mingle Ventriloquist entertainments - her Table-Side Ventriloquist entertainments - and - her unique Novelty Comical Singing Ventriloquist Acts repertoire.   

She founded 'The Ventriloquist Club of Great Britain' in order to share her expertise and experience with other entertainers/performers - and puppetry experts and enthusiasts - and - in order to train professional Entertainers, Actors, Therapists and Teachers in the hilarious, inspirational, crazy and exhilarating 'Art of Ventriloquism' - in addition to giving hilarious Talks with Live Demonstrations about the fascinating and mystical origins of 'The History of Ventriloquism' - and conducting her hugely entertaining Ventriloquism and Puppetry Workshops at Festivals and Literary and Arts Events.

She has performed her Comedy Ventriloquist Acts, Comedy Poetry, Comedy Monologues and Comedy Songs as themed One-Woman Shows and Acts in a variety of venues across England - for audiences of children and families - for private clients - for clubs and groups - at special events - mix and mingling and walkabouting at large scale public events such as Festivals and Outdoor Events - and - performing as a headliner at Poetry and Literary Events.

She is also a Cartoonist-Illustrator - aka: ‘Kitty Pigfish’ - and she studied Fine Art at Winchester School of Art and The OCA. Her artworks are exhibited in commercial London Galleries, regional Galleries, in France, the USA and Sweden - and are commissioned internationally. An Exhibitions/Client List is available on request. She owned and managed ‘The Barley-Brut Art Gallery’ in Hampshire and ran regular Exhibitions within the South Downs National Park during the 1990s.  She was also commissioned by The Art Institute to create a 850,000 word Art Tutorial Course - Title: ‘Master The Art’ - (Published The Art Institute: 1998).

In the 1980s, Merlynda was Assistant to The Chief Barker of The Variety Club of Great Britain and the Managing Director of Columbia-EMI-Warner Bros in London. 

And as an enthusiastic, fascinated and lifelong Tarot Reader and professionally qualified Astrologer (Dip. Astrol. (The Astrology Institute) - she became the regular Tarot & Astrology Magazine Columnist with The Observer Newspaper & Magazine Series in the 1990s . She was also a Subs Editor with The Financial Times (FinTech) - assistant to the lecturers at The College of Law - and - a professional Scriptwriter with the Audio Visual Presentations Companies - Q International and QAV Presentations.

She was the Founder and Editor of: The Poetry Box Magazine - and - The Bucks Mills Poetry Magazine. In 2018, she was the Artist/Poet-In-Residence at The Cabin in Bucks Mills, Devon, England (courtesy of The National Trust) - and began opening her Studio/Workshop/Gallery: ‘The Bucks Mills Gallery’ regularly to visitors where she regularly performed her Unique Comical and Nonsense Circus and Carnival Themed Ventriloquist Puppet Shows - and - displayed her Collection of Vintage and Handmade Ventriloquist Dolls and Puppets - for the public.

She was also a participating artist and poet with the: MADHurst Art Trek - the Devon Artists Network Art Trek - and the - North Devon Art Trek organisations.

In 2019 she launched a new mini poetry festival: ‘The Bucks Mills Poetry Festival - A Weekend Gathering of Poets’ bringing together poets nationally and internationally.

As a professional Puppeteer and Poet - Merlynda is happiest of all creating and then performing her Magically Entrancing Romantic Nature and Romantic Love Haiku and Tanka Poems - her Fantastical FairyTale Poems - her Verse-Fables - and occasionally - her Novelty Songs - live for Audiences in Public - together with her Cast of Beautiful String Marionettes.

She is also popularly known both for her Comical Poetry - Especially her Humorous Poems For Very Young Children - (aka: ‘Merlynda Jelly-Jaws’).

Merlynda’s Awards Include:  The Forward Press Poetry Award/The Golden Grove Poetry Prize, The PIM Poetry Award, The Poetry Rivals National Poetry Slam, The Serendipity Poetry Prize, The Portico Poetry Prize, The Leaf Book-Jacket Award, The National Library Book-Jacket Award, The WM Composer’s Award For Song, The UK International Songwriter Award, and as Selected Songwriter: MiDEM, France. Over 100 of her Songs and Keyboard/Piano Compositions are published and her Keyboard Suite: ‘The Toys In The Attic’was choreographed by The Royal Academy of Dance and premiered at: The EQ International Festival of Dance, in Ireland.
